- Sunday, July 17th-Today we drove down to Bend, OR. We visited with Jessica's cousin, Aimee and her family! We got the tour of the town! Jessica's Aunt and cousin came into town while we were there, so we had the opportunity to catch up with the whole family before we ventured out again the next day! Thank you again Aimee and Jason, Aunt Heide and Uncle Frank, Tara and Jake for letting us crash at your house(s) on our trip! It was awesome to see y'all!
- Monday, July 18th-Crescent City was our next stop! We have been very fortunate with weather for the most part on this trip until the past few days. Today, it rained just about the WHOLE day! On the way down, we made a little detour to see Crater Lake. It was hard to see because of the rain, but it was still pretty cool. There was so much snow on the ground and the average temperature was 43 degrees!!!! We couldn't get over how cold it was and it's JULY! The rain let up enough for us to pitch our tent under the Redwoods and call it a night!
- Tuesday, July 19th-After a rough night camping, mainly because of heavy rain and a tent that has mysteriously managed to get leaks, we made our way to San Francisco. We drove down the avenue with all the Giant Redwoods and what a sight they are to see! It's amazing how big these trees are! There are only 3 in the world that are big enough to drive through and of course we had to drive through one of them! Highway 1 is extremely beautiful but what was supposed to be a 6 1/2 hour trip turned into about a 10 hour trip thanks to the twisty-turning roads! I guess Google maps doesn't understand that even though the speed limit is 55, 40mph is usually top speed! We were super excited to see our motel tonight!!
- Wednesday, July 20th-This morning we caught up on a little sleep and then headed out to visit San Fran! We walked around taking pictures and getting a taste of the city. Our main goal was to ride one of the world famous trolley cars. It's really cool how they turn them around at the end. Our ride into the city was neat but our ride back was the best! Our "driver" was awesome! Jessica and I both stood on the rail on the way back and truly got an idea of city life! Afterwards, we drove down to Monterey. We went downtown and had supper but we'll come back tomorrow to visit before we head down to L.A! (Pictures of Monterey to come!)
More to come!!!
