- Thursday, July 21-Today Jessica and I did a little shopping in Monterey before we made our way down to L.A. We walked down to where the seals were hanging out, actually they were all snoozing on the beach, and got some pictures! Leaving Monterey around lunch, we drove down 17 Mile road which goes through Pebble Beach and then back on Hwy 1/Hwy 101. This is where we saw, mainly heard, the sea lions! We also saw one of the fattest squirrels EVER! Close to Los Angeles, we had another interesting dining experience. I swear, we can pick'em! We arrived in L.A late that night and got some rest!
- Friday, July 22-Since we were so late getting into L.A last night, we figured we'd check out the city today before heading to Vegas! Traffic in this city is horrible!!! We found the sidewalks where the "walk of fame" is and walked each star. There are A LOT of stars!! We had lunch at a pizza shop, walked more stars then headed to Vegas baby! Arriving in Vegas that night, we had a little mishap with our hotel reservation, but everything worked out well! Thank the Lord this is a city that never sleeps! Traffic is HORRIBLE here too!!! With a good meal in our tummies, we finally walked the streets (after we figured out how to get OUT of the casino we were in) checking out all the lights and a few light shows! We made it back to our hotel, made a little money at the slots and called it a night!!! Good times!
- Saturday, July 23-Today we visited the "Pawn Stars" pawn shop. Sorry y'all, the guys weren't there today!! I overheard that the film crew is on vacation. We checked out the Hoover Dam, which was pretty awesome, and then arrived at the Grand Canyon later that afternoon. We found our campsite and pitched our tent hoping it would dry/air out before bedtime. We drove the Desert View road which hugs part of the south rim and got some fantastic sunset photos. This place is HUGE and just so amazing!!! We got to get up close and personal with the Grand Canyon (and a few elk) the next day!
- Sunday, July 24-This morning, we got up with the sun...mainly because the ravens are so dang LOUD!!! We drove the Desert View road again because we didn't make it to the end yesterday and got some more awesome photos. After our morning drive, we parked the car and did some walking, actually, we did A LOT of walking! We walked about 5-6 miles of the south rim. The views are breathtaking and there are no words to explain the experience. These pictures won't do the Canyon justice. We caught a bus ride back to the car (no we didn't walk back....we're not that hardcore!) and caught the beautiful sunset on the edge of a cliff. Don't worry moms, we didn't get too close to the edge!! After a long day, we enjoyed making a few shadow puppets (awesome job Jess with that butterfly stretch) and turned in for the night!
- Monday, July 25(today)-We actually slept in until about 6:30am...thank you ravens for keeping it quiet this morning! We packed up and made our way down old Route 66. OK, so this route isn't as exciting as we thought. I was actually disappointed, but I guess that's part of it! Not much to see other than the regular town stuff. Our next stop on the itinerary was the Four Corners. Be prepared to lose signal and radio service down these roads. We had a good time listening to some old school jams! At the Four Corners, we took our touristy photos and headed to Cortez. We had supper at a local restaurant/brewery and enjoyed a relaxing night!
Keep checking back for more of our adventure!!!
