Audo update

On Friday, Patrick and I got up and headed to Raleigh to see Audo. We were so excited! I hadn't seen him since that past Monday when I dropped him off but Patrick hadn't seen him for about 3 weeks. So we finally got there about 12:30 and we couldn't hardly wait. We had to wait for them to take him into a conference room where they would be icing him down while we visited. We had another tour of the building while we waited, then it was OK for us to see him. He was laying on the floor in a "tech's" lap being iced when we walked in. I quickly ran over to him, plopped on the floor with him and got all my hugs and kisses in. Of course he was talking a lot to us (1-probably because he might've been in a little pain and 2- that's just his nature!!) telling us all about what was going on and what he was going through! He kept trying to get up, but because he's not really supposed to be overexcited, he had to lay still and calm(which is hard for him!!). He kept looking for his Daddy, so Patrick came over where I was and squatted down next to him. Then I took another turn because I just couldn't get enough of him! He was done being iced and the tech stayed in the room with us so Audo wouldn't try to do anything he's not supposed to. We talked about what was going on and what to expect in the next couple of weeks while he was still in rehab. Poor Audo is shaved all around his hips(but still has all his fur on his tail) and has a couple of patches on him that are shaved from his IV and another medication he was on(he's off it now). He was so pitiful! Even though some of his fur is missing, he looks great! He's gotten bigger since the last time I'd seen him and Patrick couldn't believe how much he's grown! His colors are getting lighter and he's losing that puppy look, but he still has the cutest face ever!! We didn't stay as long as I wanted to because Audo was so excited to see us and we didn't want him to do anything to hurt himself, so after about 20 mins we left. I got in my hugs and kisses and we said our goodbyes. Audo's ears perked up and his head tilted as if he was asking me where I was going! I told him I'd be back to get him soon. It broke my heart to walk out of that room without him. So then we left, got something to eat, hit the mall for a bit and headed home. We were missing Audo so much and kept saying we should've brought him home(even though we knew it was best for him to stay). I'm planning on going back up there to visit again this week and I can't wait to see him!! Even though we don't visit as much as we want, I do call up there and check-in with him everyday(at least once a day) to see how he's doing. I've spoke with the doctor there a few times and Audo is progressing well. He's already up and walking a little on his own(with the support of a tech and a sling) but I couldn't believe he was already putting weight on his hind legs. His stitches should come out within 7-14 days and they'll start massaging and stretching his legs in a couple of days(hopefully they have already). They put a neck collar on him so he want chew the stitches, but he's chewed 2 of the collars up already, so they put a soft collar on him(which he doesn't mind that much). HAHA! We plan on bringing him home on Dec. 15th and I'll be able to help him with his therapy here(which will last for about 8-12 weeks after he comes home). We might take him back up there every now and then for a day treatment, but nothing where he'll have to stay overnight. I took my camera with me with every intention on taking pictures, but I left it in the car because I was too excited to see him!! This week when I go visit, I'll try my hardest to remember to take it in with me. I will update on his progress after my next visit!!

About Me

My photo
Most of y'all know me but here is a little info for you. First and foremost, I have a great family, an amazing boyfriend and some of the best friends a girl could ever ask for. Patrick and I have been together now for almost 3 years and I love him more and more everyday. We have a German Shepherd named Audo that we treat as if he were a child. He is incredibly spoiled but we wouldn't have it any other way! I am a graduate of ECU with a degree in Biology. I love capturing the moments as they happen in a photograph and there is nothing that compares to the smell of softball in the spring and the salt air in the summer! Please visit my website!!
